410 stainless steel sheet belongs to the family of martensitic stainless steels.
410 stainless steel sheet is a general purpose martensitic stainless steel with 12% chromium content, which can be thermally treated to obtain a wide range of mechanical properties.
410 stainless steel can be hardened by quenching and tempering.
410 stainless steel sheet has hardness and strength with high resistance combined with good corrosion resistance.
410 is the most widely used of the martensitic family and is similar to 4130 except that it is more corrosion resistant.
Alloy stainless steel 410 is malleable and ductile.
It is magnetic in all conditions.
Hairline (HL)
This is one of the classics for stainless steel: hairline finish has long, continuous and uni-directional grind marks parallel to the longitude of the panel.
By using specialized grinding technique, the grain size can be adjusted, as exemplified by defined hairline (D-HL) and scratch hairline (scratch HL).
As a guideline, the quality of the finish is equivalent to that applied by the material provider.
This finish is suitable for both interior and exterior products, as well as panels, ornaments and perimeters.
What is stainless steel BA?
BA (Bright annealed), is a specific surface finish which is produces by the mills for cold-rolled stainless steels, mainly for the grades AISI 304 and AISI 316 and in thicknesses up to a maximum of 3.0 mm.
During its production, the stainless steel is annealed in an inert gas atmosphere after cold rolling.
This produces a reflective, shiny, smooth surface structure which, depending on the manufacturer and batch, can be close to a mirror-polished stainless steel of the lower quality grades.
However, stainless steel mills do not give any guarantees, standards or tolerances on the finish of the BA and the quality of the surface or its gloss and reflection can vary greatly from production batch to production batch.
